Xinisteri, KEO, Limassol

2007 KEO Xynisteri, Lemesos Regional, abv 12%

A 100% Xynisteri in the bottle from Mallia’s winery selected grapes. A pleasant surprise and certainly this is one of my personal favourites for expressing the true qualities of the xynisteri. Straw yellow and green colour, the nose is a complex m?lange of lemon grass and melon followed by a savoury nose of goat cheese and green apple, pear and finally the distinctive fresh grassiness. It’s a distinctive savoury wine on the palate with straw like fruit in a dry, light to medium body, a citrusssy, herby and grassy palate lifted by its lively crispy acidity which balances with sweetness. A tangy cheesy edge to the finish, this is a brilliant summer wine.
